Papua New Guinea's Civil Aviation Minister says moves are afoot to ensure there is no repeat of the security lapse which allowed a killing at Port Moresby's Jackson's Airport.
Earlier this month, a local businessman bled to death at the airport's domestic terminal after he was shot while being robbed by a group of armed men.
The Minister, Don Polye, says he's directing the National Airlines Corporation to establish extra security measures at terminals following the incident.
"It is a failure in the manning of the security systems at the airport. And I will ensure that the security efficiency is fixed and proactive."
Don Polye says that while the incident presents a bad image of PNG airports to overseas tourist markets, the killing was very much a local matter.
