The police in Solomon Islands have arrested and charged an outgoing MP with intimidation and illegal sale of liquor.
The Solomon Star reports the arrest of the MP for Northwest Guadalcanal, Siriako Usa, took place at Town Ground in Honiara on the eve of the country's 32nd independence anniversary.
The police confirmed Mr Usa was released on bail and his case was adjourned to July the 19th.
Last month, a group of constituents took him to court to reveal how he used rural community funds in the last eight years he was MP.
The High Court ordered him to provide documents of how he spent almost 900,000 US dollars put into his care during his terms in parliament.
