Sikua says Solomons can be proud again

The Solomon Islands caretaker Prime Minister, Dr Derek Sikua, has rejected claims that Solomon Islands is a failed state.

Speaking at the 32nd Independence anniversary celebration, Dr Sikua said Solomons is a proud country and it can be proud again if young people can be shown good leadership.

According to the Solomon Star, he says the systems and institutions of governance might have failed, but as a country, Solomon Islands remains standing.

The country will go to the polls on August 4th to elect a 50-member parliament.
