Man facing bank robbery charge in Samoa dies

One of the four men in Samoa accused of robbing a bank in April has died.

However the cause of his death is yet to be confirmed despite local reports suggesting, Shane Chan Tong, of Togafu'afu'a village died because of health problems.

Chan Tong was released from custody three weeks ago after the court granted his bail application after a preliminary hearing.

Chan Tong's death saw charges against him withdrawn in court yesterday.

Meanwhile the charges against three other accused, Robert and Nazario Chong Nee, as well as, Faiga Tanielu, are still pending in court.
