Fiji's tourism industry has been criticized this week for profiteering off tourists, with increased departure tax and the hiking up of certain goods and services.

The New Zealand Herald reported criticisms by aviation commentator Peter Clark against Fiji's hefty pricing for some tourists, saying a raised cost for families during school holidays was unacceptable.

Fiji Village Online reports the Fiji's Hotels Association saying complaints on overpricing are definitely emanating from five star hotels, and may be from visitors who paid for package travel deals.
