A new corporate plan for Samoa's Ministry of Police and Prisons aims to strengthen its professional standards unit and to identify and respond to complaints of serious police misconduct.

The corporate plan for the next three years was launched on the week-end by the Minister of Police, Prisons and Fire, Tole'afoa Apulu Fa'afisi.

Based on six strategic goals, the ministry will develop and implement a media and marketing strategy as part of its number one goal.

It also plans to to improve the management of its internal discipline system.

By the end of this plan, the ministry says there will be an increase in people trusting their service and a well disciplined force.
