Samoa NPF officer jailed for stealing relative's contribution funds

A senior I.T officer at Samoa's National Provident Fund has been convicted and sentenced to 2 years in jail for stealing from her aunt's NPF contribution.

Faleupolu admitted to 14 counts of falsifying accounts and theft as a servant which involved more than 15 thousand US dollars.

According to the case summary of facts she had stolen from her aunt's contribution by falsifying the loan entitlements on several occasions starting from 500 US dollars to three thousand.

The presiding judge, Vui Clarence Nelson, says it was sad to see someone who is young and bright involved such this criminal activity.
