Vanuatu RSE recruiter says no concerns with the scheme

A ni-Vanuatu recruiter for New Zealand's Recognised Seasonal Employer scheme says it remains popular as the money earned directly benefitting communities.

The RSE scheme is due to be reviewed next month amid concerns that some of the workers rights are being infringed.

John Salong says there've been no reports of any ni-Vanuatu being taken advantage of while many have enjoyed the benefits.

"The first thing is they improve their housing. The second thing is to invest in education. The third thing is to support their cultural interests or obligations and the fourth thing is micro enterprises."

John Salong says the scheme also helps further bi-lateral relations between New Zealand and Vanuatu.
