New Caledonia show class on opening day

New Caledonia have set the standard on day one of the Pacific Oceania Tennis Championships in Lautoka on Monday, with all of their senior under 18 players ending the day unbeaten.

Meryl Pydo and Anaeve Pain were among four players in the girls draw to post back to back wins, while in the boys event Julien Delaplane and Joanick Pattoua were among five players ended the first day undefeated.

The top Under 18 players from this weeks event will qualify for next weeks full Oceania Championships.

Meanwhile in the Under 12s draw three girls had two wins, including Ayana Rengiil of Palau, while Fiji's CJ Beg was among four boys to do the same.

In the Under 14s event Papua New Guinea pair Lorish Puluspene and Celeste Stapleton were among the girls to keep an unblemished record, as was countryman Robin Morove in the boys event.
