A contract worth over 4 million US dollars has been signed in Fiji for the construction of the two new bridges along the Kings Road, which connects Lautoka to Suva.

The contract was signed by the Permanent Secretary for Works Cama Tuiloma, the China Railway First Group Company and the project financier the Asian Development Bank.

The Works Ministry spokesperson, Iliesa Sokia, tells FBC News Mr Sokia says the two new bridges will be constructed within 15 months and works are expected to commence in August.

He says both bridges are more than 100 meters long and this is part of ongoing road works under the Fiji Road Upgrading Project.
