One of four accused of an armed bank robbery in Samoa has been jailed for six years.

Nazario Chong Nee pleaded guilty to robbery of the Westpac bank branch in the Vaitele industrial zone three months ago.

The 24 year old had asked the court for a second chance to improve his life, saying he was truly remorseful.

However the chief judge, Patu Falefatu Sapolu, rejected the defendant's plea, saying his criminal record shows he's not genuinely remorseful.

Nazario Chong Nee was deported from New Zealand six years ago because of crimes such as trespass, burglary and car theft, as well as traffic offences.

Two others accused of the bank robbery have entered not guilty pleas and will stand trial next month.
