Car dealer in Samoa feels pinch due to growing second hand car market

A leading car dealer in Samoa, ASCO Motors, is feeling the pinch as a result of the growing second hand car market.

The company has started to import second hand vehicles to help its depleting sales.

The General Manager, August Huch, told the Samoa Observer that they used to sell 30 new vehicles a month but now they're lucky if they can sell ten a month.

Mr Huch is blaming the decline on the global recession and the increase in car dealer companies being set up in the country and the exchange rate.

He says the influx of used vehicle dealership is affecting their sales.

Mr Huch says the company must look at other areas to improve their financial performance.
