The American Samoa Power Authority is yet to finalise a site for a new power plant to replace the main Satala Power Plant destroyed in last year's tsunami.
ASPA estimates it could cost about 52 million US dollars to build a new power plant.
ASPA's acting chief executive officer, Andra Samoa, says construction of a new plant is still in the planning phase.
In choosing the site location, Ms Samoa says ASPA will need to work through many environmental, land and other issues.
In the meantime, ASPA has issued a bid for a Temporary Power Generation System that will replace the Aggreko temporary power generation in 2011.
Aggreko was contracted following the tsunami to provide electricity support because of the destruction of the Satala plant.
