CNMI schools urged to conserve water

In the Northern Marianas, the Commonwealth Utilities Corporation is enlisting the help of school administrators to conserve water due to anticipated low water pressure.

The utility says conservation in individual schools is vital to stabilizing the water supply in campuses.

An estimated 11,000 students from kindergarten to 12th grade will return to campuses next Tuesday when public schools on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota open.

The utility's assistant executive director, Abe Utu Malae, says water pressure to the schools will be low so conservation is critical.

Mr Malae says schools must also prepare for power outages expected during the typhoon season.
