Most government employees in the Northern Marianas will not get paid this Friday due to a severe cash shortage.
Money in the Commonwealth of islands to the north of PNG, has become tight after bond and scholarship payments of $2.9 million US dollars were paid out.
The office of the governor in this US territory announced that staff wages will be paid when when sufficient cash becomes available.
Government employees in critical services positions will be among those exempted from the delay in pay.
