Two more petitions filed against Solomons election results

Another two petitions against election results in the recent Solomon Islands general elections have been lodged at the High Court.

The Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation reports that the petitions relate to the election victories of Silas Tausinga in West New Georgia/ Vona vona, and the Maringe-Kokota MP, Varian Longamei.

The former member for North New Georgia, Peter Boyers, and the losing candidate for Maringe/ Kokota of Isabel Province, Dr Culwick Togamana, lodged the petitions citing bribery and corruption as grounds.

The two petitions bring the total number of election petitions lodged to three ahead of the deadline of September 15.
