American Samoa's Governor Togiola Tulafono has declared September 29th a holiday in the territory.
Toigola says this day is in remembrance of the lives lost and the lives that remains forever changed as a result of the September 29th, 2009 earthquake and tsunami.
The disasters claimed the lives of 32 people in American Samoa.
Besides the holiday, a church service will be held in conjunction and coordination with all village church services to commemorate, pay tribute, honour and respect to those whose lives were lost as well as the survivors of the tragic disaster.
Church service will begin at 6a.m. and by 6:48a.m, the recorded time of when the earthquake happened, church bells will be rung throughout the territory.
