French Polynesian delegation meets disgruntled Oli victims

1:25 pm on 22 September 2010

A French Polynesian government delegation has flown to the island of Tubuai where dozens of people have begun a hunger strike because they are unhappy about the reconstruction after Cyclone Oli struck in February.

According to public radio, the team is prepared to hear the grievances of the group, calling itself the Forgotten of Oli.

Hundreds of homes were damaged or destroyed by the cyclone but about 100 homes have been re-built.

The French high commissioner has said that those who qualify for assistance are being helped.
