The Sub-Committee on Asia, the Pacific and the Global Environment of the United States Congress is this morning holding a hearing on human rights issues in West Papua.
A number of Papuans are in Washington DC for the hearing as well as meetings with US politicians on Capitol Hill.
The hearing will be chaired by American Samoa's Congressman Faleomavaega Eni Hunkin.
