A fundraiser in Tonga this Saturday for the victims of the Canterbury earthquake aims to raise more than half a million US dollars.
The government has organised the fundraiser, based around a four hour radio-thon beginning at nine tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile businesses have already made financial and in-kind commitments in support of the event.
And the Tonga-New Zealand Business Council is planning to donate a container of Tongan watermelons to the people of Christchurch.
