Tonga plans second fundraiser for Canterbury quake victims

Tonga is planning a second national radio-thon to raise funds for the victims of the Canterbury earthquake, after raising more than 400,000 US dollars at the weekend.

The Tonga Government says there've been numerous complaints from the public that they were not given enough time to organise their donations, so a second appeal is being held on Thursday.

The chair of the coordinating committee, the chief secretary to government, Busby Kautoke, has praised the generosity of the people, and thanked students for the fundraising they undertook.
