Uninsured DPS vehicles cause problems in CNMI

It's been revealed in the Northern Marianas that all vehicles owned by the Department of Public Safety are not insured, making it difficult for private care owners accidentally hit by police vehicles to claim for damages.

A police spokesman Sergeant Thomas Blas says no DPS vehicles are insured, except for those the department leases for special operations.

By law all privately owned vehicles must be covered by insurance, with driver not insured likely to be fined or lose their licence.
