The editor of a book about women's experiences in the Pacific hopes the collection could spark more academic research into the topic.

Dr Helen Thompson, an Associate Professor of Women and Gender Studies, at the University of Guam, is calling for submissions for the book.

She says while there is a lot of research being done, but it can be hard to get hold of.

"I'm hoping to be able to make current research more accessible and affordable, and to encourage as well, more research to be done on Pacific Island women. When we talk about globalisation, often Pacific Islands women don't come into that conversation and I'd like for that to change. There's a lot of advocacy work being done in the Pacific for women, but actual research is a bit more difficult to locate."
