American Samoa's Governor hopes proposed call centre will provide jobs

The American Samoa Governor Togiola Tulafono is hopeful a proposed call centre training facility will provide new jobs for the economy, despite little interest being shown in new call centre operations.

The government is working with at least three local firms looking at setting up very small scale operations with two-seat centers that will move the industry forward.

Togiola says the government is talking with an established call center company, who is willing to partner with American Samoa, and he hopes it will bring several clients the territory can serve from the training centre.

The governor also says he has been contacted by three local companies, who are setting up their own small call centre with at least two seats operating 24-hours a day.

He says these are family owned businesses and family members will man the operations.
