A team from the United States General Accountability Office is in American Samoa to conduct another study on the impact of the wage increases as mandated by the federal wage law of 2007.
The team has held talks with government departments and more discussions are planned.
The Co-chair of the Governor's Economic Advisory Council, David Robinson is pushing for the team's study to recommend that the escalator clause in the wage law be removed:
"We've certainly got a stay of execution for a year or so, but we need the GAO to offer, if they can, more support in the efforts of the governor and the Congressman and everyone who is involved to seek to achieve the removal completely of this escalator clause."
