The Northern Marianas Public Health Secretary says medical referral staff are still working with the Finance Department on securing payments to local travel agents.
It's been weeks since off-island trips were put on hold for medical referral patients because the government has continually failed to pay its obligation to travel agencies.
As of last month, the government owed more than 180,000 US dollars to three travel agencies.
Two of the agencies are still refusing to process the airline tickets of referral patients until the government pays the money owed in full.
One agency has accepted referral patients but only for trips to neighbouring Guam.
