Fiji leader in China touting for business investment

7:34 pm on 22 November 2010

The Fiji interim government has finally given some indication of the focus of Commodore Frank Bainimarama's visit to China.

The ministry of information says the interim prime minister is hailing his trip as a success after more than a week of meetings with Chinese officials and business leaders.

He says he's used the meetings to assure investors that Fiji is committed to providing an environment where business can prosper.

Commodore Bainimarama says to attract quality investment there's a need to streamline government processes to eliminate bureaucratic red tape.

In the first week of the prime minister's time in China his officials wouldn't give any detail about the nature of his visit there.
