The Bank of Hawai'i is consolidating operations in American Samoa and by early next year will close one of its three branches in the territory.
Customers were informed last week the branch in Pavaiai village will be closed by the end of February, but the move will not affect customers with that branch.
The bank's American Samoa district manager, Hobbs Lowson, says staff assigned to the branch will move either to the Tafuna branch or the main office in the town area.
The Pavaiai branch is just 4 kilometres from the Tafuna branch.
Hobbs Lowson says due to the close proximity of these two branches, consolidating staff and operations will allow the bank to better serve its clients.
He says the bank also has plans to expand service capabilities at the Tafuna branch.
