Bainimarama completes China appointments

2:11 pm on 25 November 2010

Fiji's interim prime minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, has completed meetings with Chinese investors and interested parties in Shanghai at the end of his two-week visit to China.

The Information Ministry says Commodore Bainimarama met officials from Shanghai Urban Construction Limited, a company currently in a consortium with Templetec that's engaging in various construction and rehabilitation projects in Fiji.

It says he also met officials from the China Railway No.1 Construction who are currently dredging the Rewa River and has been awarded the contract to develop land for the Housing Authority at the Tacirua Plains.

Commodore Bainimarama, who is also the interim finance minister, has delayed his return to Fiji twice until tomorrow and will be back too late to present the budget.

The information ministry has released no details about the Commodore's first week of the trip when it said he was in Zhejiang province.
