The Papua New Guinea parliament bill to create 22 reserve seats for women has gone back to cabinet for reworking.
The newspaper, The National, reports the bill's main supporter, Community Development Minister Dame Carol Kidu, as saying that the government is likely to amend the controversial bill.
Dame Carol said there were discrepancies in the Equality and Participation Bill which did not go down well with some MPs who had refused to support the proposed legislation.
She indicated that the bill needs fine-tuning if it is to stand a chance of getting passed in the current session, alluding to concerns among opponents of the bill about how the 22 seats will be funded.
