A tropical cyclone alert, and a strong wind warning alert, has been issued for the Fiji group.
The Fiji met service says a tropical depression has been located about 655 kilometres west-northwest of Nadi.
The met service says the depression may intensify further and possibly become a tropical cyclone in the next 30 to 36 hours.
