NZ's new Police Commissioner keen to take up new challenge

11:42 am on 1 December 2010

Peter Marshall, who's been named as the New Zealand's new Police Commissioner, says he's tickled pink to have been offered the new role.

Mr Marshall has been with the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force since February 2007, and has held the position of Commissioner there since mid 2008.

He's also held a number of command and operational positions with the New Zealand Police, including that of Assistant Commissioner.

Mr Marshall will take over from Howard Broad next April.

He says he's delighted to have been given the job, and is keen to take up the challenge his new role will present.
