12:20 pm on 3 December 2010

Reports from Chile say three Rapa Nui have been charged in the Easter Island court with intimitadion over the illegal seizure of a judicial official's residence in September.

According to the El Mercurio newspaper, the two women and the man in court are the first people to face prosecution for this year's land seizures.

They have been ordered to leave the premises where they had set up a tent and hoisted the Rapa Nui flag.

More court action is reportedly expected shortly against other Rapa Nui occupying buildings as part of their claim to have ancestral land returned.
