8:01 pm on 6 December 2010

Fiji's High Court has allowed the Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry to travel abroad for medical treatment, however he is not to access any funds from his bank account in Australia.

Fiji Village reports the court put in place a fresh bail of 540 US dollars, and ordered that Mr Chaudhry attend any mention or pre-trial conference.

The High Court Judge also ruled that his passport be released before he travels abroad for medical treatment in December and January.

Mr Chaudhry has pleaded not guilty to 12 charges of money laundering and tax evasion.

The case will be recalled on the 28th of January 2011.
