American Samoa considers Hong Kong fish business link

A Hong Kong-based tuna processor and exporter considering investing in American Samoa may try to open up the fish export market.

The company, Luen Thai, showed American Samoa governor, Togiola Tulafono, around its plant in the Marshall Isands during his recent trip there.

Our correspondent in American Samoa, Fili Sagapolutele, says it's not clear what sort of processing the company might consider investing in:

"The tuna processing company also looking at exporting fish out of American Samoa but they're also looking at tapping into the local fisherman to provide such service."

The Governor has said the company wants to fly fish exports to Hawai'i.
