Reports from New Caledonia say the boom in pleasure boats is causing problems with access to marina berthing places.
According to Noumea's daily newspaper, the hundreds of places available in the various locations are all rented out, creating waiting lists of up to 14 years.
The newspaper says there is a growing demand for catamarans but some prospective buyers are holding off because not enough marinas have been built to date.
