Motorists in American Samoa face a steep increase in the cost of petrol from New Year's day.
A new maximum allowable price for fuel that went into effect on January 1st will see petroleum products increase by more than 10 cents per gallon.
Petrol has gone up by 18 cents per gallon to $3.75, diesel jumps 14 cents a gallon and kerosene will see a hike of 13 cents per gallon.
