Fuel price hike erodes New Caledonia wage increase

There is concern in New Caledonia that rising fuel prices erode wage hikes that have come into effect this month.

The minimum monthly wage has been raised by 158 US dollars to 1526 dollars.

The five-percent increase however is being eroded by hikes of 11 percent last year of the price of petrol and 14 percent of the price for diesel.
