Several bridges and roads in the Ba area of Fiji have been closed to traffic because of flooding.

The King's Road, which runs from Lautoka to Suva, is closed from Korovou to Rakiraki.

A police spokesman, Atunaisa Sokomuri, says there's been heavy rain in the area since last week.

"Risks to some of the towns in the Northern Division is minimal now, but everyone is ready for more flooding, because of the current forecast by the National Weather Forecast Centre in Nadi says that a tropical cyclone is off the islands of Vanuatu, and the rain that we are experiencing now, is related to this depression."

Atunaisa Sokomuri says people have been watching coverage of the floods in Queensland and are ready for more flooding.
