Cyclone Zelia on track towards Norfolk Island

8:59 am on 17 January 2011

A cyclone warning is in place for Norfolk Island as Cyclone Zelia is heading towards the Tasman Sea.

The cyclone is expected to pass very close to Norfolk Island tomorrow morning.

It is about 250 kilometers off New Caledonia's main island.

In New Caledonia, people are advised to look out for possible risk of flooding if rain falls on already saturated ground following Cyclone Vania.

Vania hit the south of the main island on Friday with heavy rain before the system weakened on a track towards New Zealand.
