A prisoner who ran away from Samoa's Tafa'igata Prison is the prime suspect in last week's armed burglary at the home of staff of the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme.
A foreign SPREP official and his wife were held at knifepoint in their home in Vailima.
The Assistant Police Commissioner, Le'aupepe Fatu Pula, says the inmate escaped during a working session and is still at large.
Le'aupepe said the escaped prisoner is an 18-year old who had been jailed for seven years for theft and burglary.
Two other prisoners who escaped from Tafa'igata Prison last Wednesday have been recaptured.
