Tonga's Prime Minister, Lord Tu'ivakano, has been dismissed on one count of reckless driving due to insufficient evidence.

The judgement was delivered by Magistrate Salesi Mafi at the Fasi Magistrate's Court.

Matangi Tonga online reports police Prosecutor Mema Latu, said Lord Tu'ivakano was not present in court but was represented by his counsel Matai'ulua Fusitu'a.

He said Lord Tu'ivakano was charged in relation to an incident in August 2010 in which it was claimed he drove recklessly resulting in his vehicle hitting the back of a car.

Mema Latu says no one was hurt in the incident.
