Vanuatu's Chief Justice Vincent Lunabek has reopened the court session for 2011 by welcoming four new magistrates.

He calls on the all judges to look back to the challenges they've faced in the last thirty years and learn from them to set new goals for the coming year.

The Daily Post newspaper says the new magistrates will be sent to bolster the delivery of justice in rural provinces.

The Chief Justice has also named a new Supreme Court judge, with Justice Robert Spear replacing Justice Nevin Dawson.
