The American Samoa chamber of commerce is forming a think tank whose task it will be to entice new businesses and industries to American Samoa.
The chamber says the territory needs to work on creating economic stimulus for the long term, including more jobs and new industries.
Its chairman, David Whitby, the CEO of ANZ Amerika Samoa Bank, says the think tank will be directed towards actions, and not just words.
Mr Whitby says previous studies, such as the 2008 Economic Advisory Council Report and the 2009 Tourism Master Plan, could form the basis of the group's discussions.
