Solomons Minister published letter to prove his resignation

One of the ministers who have resigned from the Solomon Islands government has handed a copy of his resignation letter to a loval newspaper, to prove that he did resign.

The Prime Minister's press secretary, Alfred Sasako claimed last week that the Minister for Public Service, Stanley Sofu, had not resigned from the Government.

The coalition government has been plagued by defections over the past few weeks and the opposition wants a vote of no confidence in the government.

The Solomon Star reports that in his letter written to the Governor General, Mr Sofu explains that he no longer has confidence in Danny Philip as Prime Minister.

He says the Prime Minister's style of leadership has made it difficult for him to continue serving as a minister.
