The southwest Pacific can expect at least six more cyclones before the current season finishes at the end of April.

So far the region has experienced six cyclones and the region's weather forecasters say normal or above normal tropical cyclone disturbance are expected.

They say there's likely to be increased activity to the west of Fiji in the Coral Sea and North Tasman.

They say risk is high for Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, New Caledonia, Vanuatu and New Zealand.

And the forecasters say countries to the east can expect lower rainfall.
