Cooks economic taskforce talking with community and private sector

The Cook Islands economic taskforce has begun engaging with focus groups from the community and private sector, in a bid to come up with an improved national development strategy.

The Prime Minister wants the taskforce, set up last month, to ensure there's a collaborative approach for advances in sectors such as tourism, finance and banking, agriculture and marine resources.

The taskforce coordinator, Elizabeth Koteka, says the outcomes will be presented at an economic development summit in March.

"At present, the taskforce has been busy engaging with various focus groups and people from the community to identify the priorities and initiatives it would propose to government to be considered at the summit."
