A son of a founding member of Samoa's Human Rights Protection Party and former prime minister, the late Tofilau Eti Alesana, is the new president of the Tautua Samoa Party.
Va'aelua Eti Alesana said he was unhappy with the direction of the ruling party under the current prime minister, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi.
Va'aelua says another term of Tuilaepa as leader would harm the country.
Previous president of Tautua, Afualo Dr. Salele, said Va'aelua's election and that of Paul Salele as party treasurer, takes their campaign for election to the next level.
Candidates for the March 4th elections, such as Afualo, are vacating administrative posts in the party as its constitution separates the administrative functions from caucus.
