Fiji and Samoa believes Sevens series still wide open

Although Fiji and Samoa didn't get the results they wanted at the weekends IRB Sevens tournament in Los Vegas, they believe the international series is wide open.

A resurgent South Africa beat Fiji in the final and Samoa won the minor plate final.

The Fijian coach lliesa Tanivula says his side's performance was a huge improvement from past rounds.

And Samoa coach, Stephen Betham, says they haven't lost much ground given that overall series leaders New Zealand and England, didn't gain maximum points.

"I think we can thank South Africa and Fiji, I think it's a close race now, and anything can happen with the last half of the season left."

Fiji has caught up to Samoa on the points table. They sit third equal behind New Zealand and England.
