About 8,000 households in cyclone-damaged Tanna Province in Vanuatu will benefit from relief supplies which have now arrived from Port Vila.
The province was struck by Cyclone Atu this week and Cyclone Vania last month, destroying food crops and homes.
The General Manager of the Disaster Management Office, Job Esau says two vessels containing food and other supplies have arrived in Tafea province and a team is working to distribute it.
He says the greatest need at the moment is food.
"They have been affected and they've tried to tree plant but they haven't really harvested their crops. And then the two cyclones hit them this year. So it is their greatest need to have this food aid distributed as soon as possible to keep them alive while they continue to recover from the effect of the two cyclones."
Job Esau says the French government will soon deploy two aircraft to conduct an aerial survey on the scale of damage caused by Cyclone Atu.
